We made our way out to Kincardine for this shoot. We love the long drives along the country side. So pretty!

We really tried our best with timing the shoot so we wouldn’t be stuck shooting in the rain. It was off and on the whole way up and I would have been so sad if it rained and I couldn’t use my smoke bombs I just picked up.

But it didn’t rain, just spit sometimes, and we got to use the smoke bombs. All were happy.

These two are a pretty chill, relaxed couple. We went to a couple of their favorite spots through out Kincardine (Which I like when couples choose spots that mean something for their shoot! So personal)

This also included heading to the beach for a bonfire, wine and yes…….. smoke bombs.

We loved shooting with these two and are really looking forward to their wedding day next month! It will be our biggest wedding party that we have worked with. I am definitely excited for the photo opps we will get to have with that.

I shot these photographs with my digital Canon 5d mark ii and my film Holga (toy camera) with red film! The red shot you see toward the bottom is a double exposure.

Our year couldn’t have started off better than with this wedding!

Everything from the venue (The Arts and Letters Club in downtown Toronto), to the food, to the people and most importantly the couple – was perfect.

In the morning we walked over to the grooms house. Yes walking distance. Every photographers dream. From there we took a cab to the venue where the Bride and her girls were getting ready. The ceremony, right down to the reception all took place at the one location. It made for such a smooth and enjoyable day!

Beyond happy we were able to be there!

Thinking about having Devic Fotos there?

First wedding of the year and it was a group of familiar faces for us! We have known Cory and Jenna for a while. They made mention that they were really not comfortable with the camera, and just wanted a chill day of being followed with the camera. Pretty much what we always do!

We concentrated on just hanging out and taking pictures, pretty much. This made the whole day go smoothly.

It was quite freezing, but we all held it together pretty well and took breaks from the cold by going into little shops on Queen St. to warm up and take photos indoors. Including a cute little crepe place called Choco crepe. Actually a yummy and photogenic place for anyone looking for locations to shoot in!

We made our way to the Gladstone Hotel for some pre-drinks, then headed to the evening ceremony and reception down the street from Gladstone at Twist Gallery on Queen St. W.

Also a nice venue.

A pretty awesome day I must say.

Thinking about having Devic Fotos there?

I met Marissa and Bryan a few months prior to their engagement party. We sat in a coffee shop talking about their party and we instantly hit it off. I beyond enjoyed their company and couldn’t wait for their party in December.

I unfortunately was starting to get quite sick. I have had many people ask me, “What happens when you get sick on the day of our wedding?” Well I finally have an answer for you. And it’s from experience.

My adrenaline kicks in like mad and I can fight it for the whole day. When I’m taking picture it helps me forget that I’m not feeling good. I work under any condition!

I didn’t want the way I was feeling to effect the outcome of the photos, but as I was shooting I was thoroughly happy with how everything was turning out. Everyone at the party loved being in front of the camera and Marissa and Bryan – they were perfect for the camera. They made my job easy and we worked really well together!

I particularly loved the dancing at this engagement party. Everyone was just filled with happiness for this couple. Although I was feeling sick, I didn’t want to go. It was too fun.

OH and the decorations! COME ON. Marissa and her team did it. So different and beautiful. I loved every little bit of it.

This was a fun shoot. I love when people really get into it – all dressed up. Malika ordered a bunch of vintage inspired clothes for this shoot. We took photographs around her parents house. It was the perfect atmosphere I think. Plus I love the cozy feeling you get shooting in a familiar house.

We got probably the best day in November for this engagement shoot. It was actually warmer that day than it is right now outside near the end of April. Of course!

We stuck around Queen and University area downtown Toronto. We made use of parks and windows. You don’t need anything fancy for an engagement session!

These two were so enjoyable to be around. Seemed like they were best friends, joking around. They didn’t take themselves very seriously. While we did get quite a few cute, serious shots, we got twice the amount of silly, goofy shots.

Can’t wait for their big day!

We met at the Harbourfront downtown Toronto for this shoot. It was October, sun was setting, trees were yellow, it was warm. Pretty much the complete opposite of what it’s like now as I write this post. Reminiscing over these photos is quite nice.

I loved shooting with these two. We talked and laughed, took some pictures. It was very relaxed, not stiff at all. It’s important to have pictures that reflect you as a couple, doing your thing. That’s just what we did!

Such a beautiful wedding! We are so happy we got to be a part of this day.

We had many favorite moments and details… Some including the fact that the bride had purchased her dress from china town. 20 dollars. The guitarist did not show up for the ceremony so as the bride walked down the aisle, all the guests sang aloud, “here comes in the bride.” Everyone was laughing! The guests arrived for the ceremony in a red train. The bride got lost walking through the trees while trying to find where the ceremony was in the middle of the forest. Hot apple cider. Tons of love and laughing. Laid back.

It was so beautiful. If you are looking for some inspiration when it comes to rustic/woodsy feel… this definitely is a wedding to check out.

What makes Devic Fotos different from every other vintage photographer?

We made our way to Kingston for our engagement shoot with Jenna and Eric. They really wanted to incorporate locations that they enjoy going to together. I always love when a couple personalizes their photos! It makes it that much more special.

We went to their favorite bakery, and a few favorite little spots through out Kingston. We had such an amazing day with the most perfect scenery! Such an awesome drive up that way… we never mind a few hour drive for photos. So if you are considering us taking your picture but think we are too far… that may not be true! We love mini road trips.

So glad we could capture these few moments of these two. Looking forward to their downtown wedding this summer!

What makes Devic Fotos different from every other vintage photographer?

We started this shoot at 6 in the morning. Scary thought waking up that early… but it was so worth it. We had tons of time during the morning light to catch sun flares and warm light, giving the photos an ethereal, dreamy, romantic feel. I love shooting this time of day!

They were incredibly cute in front of the camera, and really comfortable with being themselves in front of the camera.

These two were already married at this point. They had no photographer for their western wedding, but would have a reception in China. They just needed a few shots of them all dressed up to have for their reception. I was happy I got to be a part of this! A bit of me will be in China. Pretty cool.
